Reclaiming Friday the 13th: The Thirteen Questions Mirror Ritual
Introduction:
Friday the 13th has long been misunderstood—marked by superstition, fear, and avoidance. But for witches, diviners, intuitives, and those who work with shadow, this day carries sacred potential. Thirteen is the number of lunar cycles in a year, of divine feminine transformation, and of power that resists domestication. This isn’t a day to fear. It’s a day to reclaim.
This ritual is for those who have felt dismissed, diminished, or cast aside. For those who want to speak with their shadow, stand in their full truth, and invite their power back home.
The Thirteen Questions Mirror Ritual
You will need:
A mirror (any size will do)
A journal or your Book of Shadows/Grimoire
Your preferred divination tool (tarot, runes, pendulum, bones, etc.)
A candle or protective object (optional but grounding)
Ritual Setup:
Set your space. Light a candle or place protective wards if you use them.
Sit where you can see yourself clearly in the mirror. This ritual is about confronting and honoring yourself.
Take a few grounding breaths and speak your intention: “I reclaim Friday the 13th. I make it mine. I call back what was taken and bless what was buried.”
The Thirteen Questions:
Speak each question aloud while looking in the mirror. After each, either:
Pull a card or rune
Journal a response
Let yourself sit in silence and feel the answer arrive
Who taught me to fear my power?
What have I survived that others never acknowledged?
What truth in me still goes unspoken?
What part of myself did I abandon to stay safe?
What do I know in my bones that I’ve been told to forget?
What anger have I buried that deserves to rise?
Who do I become when I stop asking for permission?
What old story must I let die to become fully alive?
What does my shadow want me to know today?
What am I ready to reclaim without guilt or apology?
What part of me is still sacred, no matter how it was treated?
What magic lives in my wounds?
What is the truth of who I am?
Closing the Ritual:
Thank yourself.
Blow out the candle or ground your energy however you choose.
If you journaled, you may wish to seal the page with a symbol, pressed flower, or wax mark.
Optional Add-On:
Use the same mirror to write affirmations or protection sigils in erasable marker or oil. Turn it into a sacred mirror of reclamation.
Final Thoughts:
Friday the 13th isn’t cursed. It’s a key. In a world that punishes those who remember their power, rituals like this help us stay rooted, whole, and awake. May you walk through this day not with fear, but with fire.
Until Next Time,
The Divine Forecast
