I want to start with a small apology for my absence here. Life has thrown me into a lot of developing difficulties — the kind that pull attention away from the things that feel important and nourishing. I know many of you understand what it’s like to be stretched between survival and soul.
The rune that has been sitting with me lately is Gebo (ᚷ) — the gift, the balance of give and take. Gebo reminds us that balance is not about perfection, but about exchange. Sometimes life demands more of us, sometimes it gives back. The key is in honoring the motion between the two.
Which brings me to the reflection I want to share with you today:
Motion is the Only Balance
When people talk about balance, they often imagine standing perfectly still on a tightrope — straining not to wobble, not to fall. But that kind of balance is exhausting. Muscles lock up. The whole body shakes. It’s not sustainable, and it’s not natural.
Balance isn’t a tightrope. Balance is a bicycle. To stay upright, you must keep moving. The pace matters, the path matters, and rest is part of the rhythm.
In ritual, I see this truth play out every time. I don’t line up my tools like museum pieces or force every element into perfect symmetry. Instead, I let them move with me:
-
Air carries incense smoke or a fresh breeze.
-
Fire blazes through candles and burning herbs.
-
Water flows in moon water or tea.
-
Earth steadies with herbs, wood, and stone.
I don’t demand they all shout at once. Some rituals lean fiery. Others flow with water. Balance comes from motion, from shifting in and out, from trusting the rhythm.
Perfectionism is the death of practice. If I waited for the “perfect” ritual, most of my work would never happen at all. A ritual done simply — with honesty, with what I have — is always more powerful than a ritual never done.
And rest? Rest is not failure. Rest is part of balance. The fire dies down to coals. The moon wanes. Trees go dormant. Pausing doesn’t mean the work is over; it means the cycle is alive.
So this is the creed I keep close:
✨ Balance is not stillness. Balance is motion, with pauses for rest. Balance is the courage to keep moving forward. ✨
Until Next Time,
The Divine Forecast
